By Dave McClung, Church Planting Strategist for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention
Church planting is the most fascinating ministry of which I have ever been a part. It is proven to be the most effective and quickest means of reaching lost people. It is a journey filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
It is always a risk for a family to obey the calling to plant a new church from the ground up. There is a different skill set that is needed to start something from scratch. There is a different spiritual mentality needed to start something from scratch.
Two things are for sure in church planting: if God is in it and leading it, radical transformation occurs in people’s lives and secondly, the church planter and his family will most likely encounter spiritual warfare unlike any other time in their lives.
Many people wonder how churches get started and what church planters and their families actually do as they start new churches, so we hope to give a glimpse into their journey.
The Arkansas Baptist State Convention wants you to come on a journey with us as we take a look at church planters’ journeys from the initial wrestling of the call to plant a church to hitting the ground running seeing many people saved and transformed by the gospel. Many people wonder how churches get started and what church planters and their families actually do as they start new churches, so we hope to give a glimpse into their journey.
We want you to hear some amazing transformation stories. We want you to hear the challenges and difficulties that our church planter families face. We want you to see some of the things they are doing to reach people with the gospel and how they go about engaging their community with the good news of Jesus.
How you can be a part of church planting
Your Dixie Jackson offerings make it possible for Arkansas Baptist church planters to be obedient to their calling to plant churches. Your commitment to praying and giving is resulting in lives being changed all over the state. These guys, and other Arkansas church planters, could not do what they do without you, so thank you for your partnership.
Here are a couple of things you can pray about as we begin this journey together:
1. Pray for the guys and our other church planter families around the state. You can find several of them on the church planting page of the ABSC website. Church planting is hard, takes a lot of work and can be very challenging for young families.
2. Pray for the people in their communities who do not know Jesus. Pray that God might continue to orchestrate some divine appointments with people to see hear the good news of Jesus and that their lives may be changed forever.
3. Pray for the churches’ meeting places and where they come in contact with their communities on a daily basis.
These are but a few examples of many church plants around the state. Would you take this journey with us and pray for church planting in Arkansas as we seek to see lives changed all over the state for eternity?
